TEMAGAMI WILDERNESS ADVENTURE

Day 1 Arrive in North Bay Airport where you will transfer to the Temagami Outfitting Company’s shuttle van. A scenic drive north will take you to the Temagami Outfitting Company for a welcoming dinner. Meet our staff and your trip guide, and settle into your lodgings for the night.

Day 2 The day will begin with instruction on safety and canoeing. We will take an exhilarating 45 mile barge boat ride with our canoes and all of our gear to our put in point on the outermost edge of Temagami’s backcountry. With our canoes in the water, we will begin our journey on the pristine lake and river routes developed by the native Anishinawbeg people thousands of years ago. Make camp, cook over an open fire, and spend your first night sleeping beneath the stars.

Day 3 We will continue our adventure, paddling to the ancient Pictographs left on rock faces that jut out of the deep lake waters. There will be time to stop for a swim and daring leap from a forty foot cliff’s edge into sparkling lake waters before making our way to a remote island campsite. Spend the night sharing stories around the campfire.

Day 4 Evidence of how the region’s land was carved and etched by receding glaciers over 11,000 years ago will be seen along this portion of our journey. Camp and enjoy the evening fire on a sandy beach of Lake Wakimika.

Day 5 A short lake paddle will take us to the winding waters of Wakimika Creek. Watch for wildlife through this area as will make our way to Obabika Lake. We will spend the afternoon hiking the towering 300 year old pine forests of the Obabika Trails.

Day 6 On our last day we will paddle down Obabika Lake and portage into the northwest arm of Lake Temagami. The barge boat will pick us up and shuttle us to Bear Island for lunch and the opportunity to experience the culture of the native Ojibwe. That evening we will return to Temagami Outfitting Company’s base camp for a delicious welcome home dinner.

Day 7 After breakfast we will take the van shuttle to North Bay Airport for your return flight home.
